Job description
Mercury specializes in metal fabrication, welding, painting, injection molding, and fully integrated assembly. We are looking for an experienced manufacturing project engineer who will manage new and existing programs and projects, including quoting, process development and process improvement, and troubleshooting. The manufacturing project engineer will demonstrate leadership and a cooperative sense of urgency by pursuing improvements and change while adhering to Mercury’s operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Managing new and existing programs and projects from the quoting process through final production
- Work directly with customer teams to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) on new programs, prepare quotes, communicate, and execute project timelines for prototypes, packaging and production tooling
- Managing projects in entirety by coordinating with customers as well as internal departments, including the sales department, production, purchasing, and quality control
- Conducting engineering analysis for continuous improvement of product quality, process, and tooling to meet or exceed standards
- Directly engaging with shop floor employees on improving and maintaining product quality, process reliability, and productivity and managing engineering changes
- Participate in NPI builds on the shop floor to help lay out and set up lines, propose tooling and equipment needs, and support employees while establishing processes
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering in a manufacturing-related field
- Minimum 5 years working experience in project management and engineering experience, preferably in related manufacturing industries
- Understanding various mechanical processes – metal punching, stamping, forming, welding, paint, plastic injection molding, CNC machining, and advanced assembly
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Account management experience highly preferred
- Strong analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to develop successful relationships with colleagues and customers
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Advanced Excel skills are required
- Willingness to travel and work with customers one-on-one
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
