SUMMARY: Lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other dutes may be assigned.

Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make and repair metalworking dies, cuttiing tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges and machinists’ hand tools, applying knowledge of tool and die designs and construction; shop mathematics; metal properties; and layout, machining, and assembly procedures,. Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product Works closely with Engineering on prototype tooling and designs Computes dimensions and plans layout and assembly operations Uses standard machine shop measuring equipment. sets up and operates machine tools (e.g., band saw, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder) to machine parts with a high level of proficiency. Verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications Start and stop jobs as required to meet product line needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Right-to-know, Loc-out Tag-out Training, Blueprint, Computer, Instrument, SPC, 1-3 years of hands on experience in the manufacturing processes. Must be able to adapt fast and easily grip the quality concept. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
